Toys, War & Faith: Democracy in Jeopardy
Introduction
In part one, the author shares his experiences as an Air Force aviator and product designer. He gives gripping accounts of the dangers and sensation of flying military aircraft, the emotions of fighting in a high-technology war linked to dictators and the world's self-induced dependency on oil, and what it's really like to battle a large corporation in our legal system. In 1990 the author invented a toy to save lives and was issued U.S. Patent 5,100,327. During this time, Mr. Gladish served in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot. While serving in Operation Desert Storm, he flew the KC-135Q which provided air refueling of the F-117 Stealth Fighters. This involved flying deep into Iraqi airspace, avoiding SCUD missiles, and defending against terrorist attacks. It required flying at night in dangerous weather, while dodging other aircraft. When Mr. Gladish returned home from Desert Storm, he soon found himself in a legal storm with the third largest U.S. toy manufacturer, Tyco Toys Inc., a company with over $700 million in assets. Toys are big business and yield over $11 billion in annual sales for manufacturers.
In part two, the author provides insight and a wealth of information on the insidious and dangerous influence large corporations have obtained over democracy, technology, religion, families, society, and the environment worldwide. The final chapter provides details on how to fight back against this imbalance of power, rejuvenate our democracy, increase the level of peace throughout the world, and heighten our sense of purpose and happiness in life.
